HOW TO SOLVE WINDOWS 10 PROBLEM: CAN’T TYPE IN SEARCH TAB/CALCULATOR/WINDOWS EXPLORER

After my laptop was re-installed, there were some problems where I can’t type in Microsoft built-in features such as:

· Can’t type in search tab

· Can’t type WiFi Password

· Can’t type in calculator

· Can’t type in windows explorer

So,I ended up searching for tutorials to fix it.Here some alternatives that I’ve got and tried.

· Re-install Cortana (keyboard search should also work without Cortana, so that did not help)

· Kill the Cortana/Search process

· Rebuild the search index

· Re-install all default apps

· Restart the "Windows Search" service

· Run the "Search and Indexing" Troubleshooter

· Run system file checker (SFC) to search for currupted files

· Re-install the keyboard driver

None of them worked for me :( . But, Finally I found this website :) https://basics.net/2016/12/20/windows-10-cant-type-in-search-field/

Here what it suggested:

1. Open Task Scheduler (if you can’t type, you can do it in Microsoft word or any word processing software that you have, and then Paste it in search Box)

2. Click Microsoft > Windows > TextServicesFramework

3. Right Click MsCtfMonitor >  enable

4. Restart your laptop

Note: If there is no  file MsCtfMonitor, you can import the file from here

MsCtfMonitor.xml

l How to import the file:

l Click link MsCtfMonitor.xml

l Right Click > save as .xml file
Done

> Go back to tutorial no. 2

> Click import > insert file that you’ve been saved before, from (MsCtfMonitor.xml)

> Click enter

> Right Click MsCtfMonitor >  enable

> Restart your computer

Good Luck! Please let me know if this tutorial also works for you :D
