WRITING PART 2 (IELTS)
What Should We Do?
- write an academic style essay on the single topic given.
- No choices here – you must write only about the one topic
- organized essay on a variety of subject areas.
You may need to offer a solution to a problem, express an opinion or comment on ideas or arguments presented.
THE RULES:
- At least contains four or five paragraphs in length, min. 250 words, No maks but watch out your time!
- Must contains: an introduction, body and conclusion
- Properly organized essay, written in full sentences
- State your thesis
- Provide evidence or reasons to support your argument
- Write a strong conclusion.
Paragraph 2: Body: Main idea, supporting idea, examples
Paragraph 3: Body: Main idea, supporting idea, examples
Paragraph 4: Conclusion: Summarize ideas, restate position
THE KEY
The key to successfully answering Task 2 is to use an essay style with an introduction, an analysis of both points of view and a conclusion based upon the evidence presented. To do this successfully it is essential to use the following:
• paragraphing
• a formal style
• an introduction and a conclusion
• presentation of both view points
• your own opinion
• to write over 241 words, not including the essay title
USE connective devices to link the paragraphs together (higher marks)!!!
